Plans have been unveiled for a major redevelopment of Stirling Village, with a significantly expanded shopping centre proposed to rise from the ashes of the original complex, which was destroyed by fire in October 2023.

The ambitious project, submitted to Adelaide Hills Council by site owners Leyton Funds, includes a much larger Woolworths supermarket, an increase in speciality stores from seven to 14, and a long-awaited solution to local parking woes: an underground carpark that would increase the number of spaces from 178 to 315.
A spokesperson for Leyton Funds said they hope to begin construction as early as spring this year, subject to council approvals, with the goal of opening the new complex by autumn 2027.

The original Stirling Village was home to a Woolworths, butcher, pharmacy, and several speciality shops before it was destroyed in the 2023 blaze. Two teenagers were initially charged in relation to the fire, though both cases were later dropped, one just before trial.
