The rollout of brand new bins in the Murray Bridge council area has left a large number of residents confused with the process, with an increase in bins staying out indefinitely across the region.

Flyers have been distributed in an effort to explain the process, which will see new bins distributed before old bins are taken on their usual collection night, however the exchange has left many unsure.

Households with a three-bin system will exchange their current bins (dark green with blue, yellow and dark green lids) for new black bins with red, yellow and green lids, while two-bin households will exchange current bins (dark green with blue and yellow lids) for new black bins with red and yellow lids.

An information pack will also be attached to the new bins upon delivery.

The initiative is a collaboration between the council and Solo Resource Recovery, with the current bins over five years beyond their expected lifespan.
