A fully loaded milk truck has collided with three diesel tanks on a farming property.
Two trucks carrying 10 firefighters attended the scene at Wild Dog Creek Road, Wattle Flat on the Fleurieu Peninsula at 7.40pm last night, Wednesday 7 May.
It is believed the tanker lost brake pressure and rolled downhill into the fuel storage. The truck did not tip over, so there was no spilt milk but the diesel containers were ruptured and approximately 8,000 litres of fuel was dispersed onto a dirt road.
The spill was contained to the road by the firefighters, who had support from MFS, SES and the property owners. Their good work prevented the spill from spreading to a nearby creek.
There was an estimated $14,000 worth of diesel lost.
The SA Environment Protection Authority has been notified.
