Channel 10 rebrands – again! – During Channel 10’s upfronts on October 31, the network’s sister channels Eleven and One were rebranded as 10 Peach and 10 Boss. Now, in a hilarious turn of events, 10 Boss has been renamed 10 Bold. It comes off the back of a lawsuit lodged by the Australian Financial Review, which felt that it was too similar to its AFR Boss magazine. While it’s a positive step forward, an AFR spokesperson has revealed the matter “remains before the court”, so presumably further action and even a settlement could still be on the table.
Golden Globe nominations announced – The 2019 Golden Globe nominations were announced late last week and while there are some very well-deserved inclusions, as always there are also a few notable snubs that have everyone talking. Among those in contention for gongs are Foxtel series Pose, The Americans, Barry and Sharp Objects, but The Handmaid’s Tale – which took home the Best TV Drama award last year – isn’t even in contention, though thankfully stars Elisabeth Moss and Yvonee Strahovski are. This Is Us was also left out of the running very surprisingly, both for the show and its cast.
Goggleboxers quit! – We talked recently about rumours that Wayne and Tom would not be returning for next year’s ninth season of Gogglebox Australia, now the news has officially been confirmed. But sadly they’re not the only departures from the Logie-winning series, with Angie and Yvie also revealing they’ve departed the series. While they are both huge losses to the show, it does open the door to some fresh faces and fresh perspectives. If you think you have what it takes to be a couch critic, you can head to My Casting Net to register your interest.
Power set shut down after fatality – Filming on the sixth season of Stan’s hit series Power – starring 50 Cent – was shut down overnight following the tragic death of a crew member. 63-year-old Pedro Jimenez was setting up traffic cones on a Brooklyn street when he was hit by a four-wheel-drive, pronounced dead at hospital.
Family Food Fight given the flick? – Channel Nine’s latest cooking show, Family Food Fight, is reportedly “under review” after failing to perform in the ratings. While the finale airs tonight, executives are said to be “disappointed” that it hasn’t done better off the back of The Block so are strongly considering pulling the plug. The format has been sold in multiple countries across the UK and Europe, but it’s just failed to resonate in Australia.
