This week, Oct 7-13 is Mental Health Week across Australia which aims to bring awareness and interest in mental health and wellbeing.
SANE Australia is a national charity providing online peer support services, crucial for those living with mental illness in
rural and regional communities.
'One in five Australians experience a mental health problem every year, yet half of these people do
not receive the treatment and support that they need.'
Kristel caught up with Suzanne Leckie, head of the SANE Australia Help Centre to find out more about the kinds of Complex Mental Illnesses they provide support services for and why this campaign is so important, particularly for people living in rural and regional areas.
You can join the SANE Australia forum at SANE.org or call the helpline on 1800 187 263
Alternatively, if this brings up any issues for you, contact the Lifeline helpline on 13 11 14.
