Actor, The Patridge Family star and the crush of many teen girls in the 1970's, pop culture idol David Cassidy has passed away in a Florida Hospital suffering from organ failure.
The 67 year old was diagnosed with dementia earlier this year, telling fans at an event in March about the diagnosis and the fact arthritis was interfering with his gulitar playing.
His family released a statement through Cassidy's publicist JoAnn Geffen;
“On behalf of the entire Cassidy family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, our uncle, and our dear brother, David Cassidy. David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long. Thank you for the abundance and support you have shown him these many years.”
David's nephew, Jack Cassidy who starred on season 12 of the US version of The Voice has thanked fans who are letting him kow how much his uncle meant to then.
Thank you all for the love and support your giving my uncle, my family, and me... The responses have been sincerely beautiful!— Jack Cassidy (@jackgcassidy) November 21, 2017
Actor and fellow Patridge family member Danny Bonaduce had asked just two days ago for fans to send their love David's way
I’m a big believer in the power of prayers. Please keep my brother David Cassidy in yours. Thanks for all the love and support.— Danny Bonaduce (@TheDoochMan) November 19, 2017
