A 75-year-old woman was knocked unconscious on a Port Douglas street and left to lie there for two hours before passers-by helped her.
Police say the woman was walking along Nautilus St towards Mitre St about 6.30pm on Friday when she was assaulted by two people. The blow toppled her and she hit her head on the ground, knocking her unconscious.
The 75-year-old Craiglie woman suffered serious head injuries and it's believed she lay by the road for about two hours before passers-by found her and contacted police. She is in hospital in a stable condition.
Police are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area between 6.30pm and 8.30pm, or any motorist who may have dashcam vision to come forward.
