Nairne locals should not be alarmed if they see smoke coming from the sewers in the next four weeks.
Council's Community Wastewater Management System is undergoing smoke testing to help identify areas where storm water or ground water may be entering the system.
The testing will occur on the northern side of Nairne from Woodside Road to North Road and there is a map available.
Smoke testing can identify leaks as well as drains that have been incorrectly connected to the sewer system instead of the storm drain system.
It will also detect breaks, cracks and other pipe defects.
It is non-toxic, odourless, will disappear within a few seconds and will have a low temperature.
Testing will take place on weekdays 7am- 5pm.
