A Victor Harbor electrician has warned homeowners to be wary of dodgy solar panel installers.
Tony Minutella, the owner of 'Switched on SA’, said because the solar market in South Australia is expanding, there are a lot more operators out there - both good and bad.
The business owner says he receives around two calls a week from consumers asking for help, following dodgy or unfinished jobs, particularly from big companies outside of South Australia.
He said many are happy to promise the world for around $3,500, with little or often no back-up service on even the simple things.
It is vital to do your homework on not just 'what' you are getting for the indicated money, but also the level of local backup, repairs and maintenance available through your local supplier.
Tony recommends people shop around and get a few quotes from reputable local companies before making a commitment
for a home installation.
The sale and installation should also come with a solid track record of happy customers.
