Nearly $40,000 in fines have been handed out to people bringing fruit into South Australia over a three-day blitz.

A roadblock set up at Bordertown, from 28 February to 2 March 2019, intercepted 103 vehicles with a total of 124 kilograms of prohibited fruit seized and a total of $38,600 in fines were issued.

The South Australian Government has issued a reminder for the Adelaide Cup long weekend for anyone coming across the border that with a zero tolerance approach to the biosecurity threat, each breach will result in a $375 dollar fine.
