The trial continues for the Meningie hobby farmer accused of abducting and raping a young European backpacker.
In the opening trial on Tuesday 5 February 2019, prosecutor Michael Foundas alleged Gene Charles Bristow lured the 24-year-old to his farm near Murray Bridge by responding to an online advertisement looking for farm work.
It’s alleged that in February 2017 he took her to a disused pig shed on the property, binding her wrists and ankles and sexually assaulting her.
The 54 year old plead not guilty to aggravated kidnapping, rape and indecent assault. The trial is expected to run for 10 days.
