Look Out For End Of Financial Year Tax Scammers

scam alert.jpg

As June 30 approaches, we’re being warned tax scammers will be out to catch out the more trusting of us.

The phishing scams have caught out many over the years, with emails arriving that look like they are legitimately from the ATO, asking for personal details including bank account numbers, stating they are needed for returns to be banked or for debts to be paid.

The ACCC says the emails, which may also ask for you to fill out a customer survey or verify personal details should always be questioned.

For more information on how you can avoid becoming a victim of a scammer, head to the Scamwatch Website.
