mt barker police hills

Opportunistic thieves have been at it again in the Adelaide Hills.

A number of alerts have been issued in recent weeks about thefts from cars around the region; this time in Mount Barker.

At the weekend several cars were broken into, some valuables were taken and some cars were damaged.

A locked vehicle parked in the driveway of a home on Thompson Court was broken into and scratched between 7pm on Friday 20 May and 11am on Saturday 21 May. Two fuel cards were taken, along with sports equipment, a cello and scooter.

Around 4.20am on Saturday 21 May, a vehicle parked in the driveway of a home on Silverwood Drive was also broken into. The car window was smashed and a Milwaukee tool bag and tools were stolen from inside.

Between Friday night and Saturday morning, three other cars were interfered with at Jacobs Crescent, Davis Court and Silverwood Drive.

If anyone has any information about any of the crimes above, call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police recommend locking up, installing an audible alarm, removing valuables from the car when you get out and where possible keeping the car in a garage or under lights. For further practical tips to improve safety and security, click here.
