Local communities are getting ready to welcome Father Christmas for end of year celebrations.
While a number of pageants and carols will not be going ahead this year, several events are still planned in the Adelaide Hills, Murraylands and Fleurieu Peninsula.
Murray Bridge’s Riverfront Christmas Festival will kick off this Friday 19th November 5pm - 9pm and continue Saturday 20th November 11am - 9pm with food trucks, market stalls, amusement rides, entertainment, bands and a pageant on Saturday at Sturt Reserve. The Tailem Bend Christmas Parade Committee is in the process of finalising this year’s event on Saturday December 11. The committee has made a video of Santa in his workshop which will be live streamed online and their Wonderland will be open again so that the children can tell Father Christmas their wishes and have a photo with the jolly man. The Nairne Community Carols will be held on Saturday 11 December from 6-8pm (gates opening 5pm) and will feature musicians, choirs, food and a visit from Father Christmas. Our very own Adam Connelly will be on the mic as an MC alongside Senior Pastor Mike Stoodley from Hills Family Church. The iconic Lights of Lobethal Festival is back from December 12-23, starting with a ticketed opening night Carols night at the local oval.
A new, two day Twilight Christmas Market will be held at Fabrik Arts & Heritage on 18 & 19 December as part of the 11 day festival.
A Pageant is also planned for December 23 at the oval and visitors can check out the largest community-run lights display in the Southern Hemisphere by wandering through the town. More details and forthcoming ticket infortmation via The Lights of Lobethal Festival Facebook page.
Strath Celebrates Christmas is a free event on Friday December 10 at the Showgrounds 5-8pm including Christmas activities and crafts in the Show Hall, carol singers and live music provided by the Strathalbyn Concert Band, EFS school band, Harmummies, Kick the Dog, Brass band and a range of solo singers. The Goolwa Christmas Concert is planned for Sunday December 12 at the Goolwa Oval Precinct with performances from a cast of over 100 local entertainers including the Goolwa Concert Band. One session is scheduled for 3pm, the other for 6.30pm. More info and booking via eventbrite.com.au.
The Victor Harbor Christmas Pageant planned for December 11 from 5pm at the VH Harness Racing Club, Morgan Park, followed by Carols by the Sea. More details via encountervictorharbor.com.au.
