Murray Bridge Council has committed to funding for a New Years Eve event this year.
In this week's meeting, councillors agreed to commit to spending money on fireworks at Sturt Reserve.
It is expected that, in order to comply with COVID restrictions, the event will be fenced and free tickets must be booked ahead of time.
Council is expected to release more information about the event and how to get tickets in future.
It follows news from the City of Victor Harbor that council is planning a 9pm and midnight south coast fireworks display on December 31.
The Rural City of Murray Bridge has offered a significant grant to the Inter Church Council, so that they can plan for their annual Carols by the River event.
Planning is also underway for Rotary's November 19 and 20 Riverfront Christmas Festival and pageant at Sturt Reserve.
