That is the message of frustrated truck drivers and rubbish collection organisations following incidences of rubbish fires, sparked by rechargeable and lithium ion batteries.
A rubbish truck fire occurred in Macclesfield on Monday, believed to be sparked by batteries and ash.
CFS crews were called to Wirrinilla Dr following reports of smoke coming from the back of a truck.
They were able to carefully cool the load with water and eventually move the truck to Brinkley Waste Centre to be properly extinguished.
Instead of chucking out batteries, laptops, mobile phones and power tools, drop them at council collection depots, or recycle them at places like Officeworks, Battery World or Aldi.
