Victims of domestic violence in the Adelaide Hills have access to greater local support.
A new safety hub has opened at the Mt Barker Community Centre for information, referrals and support from staff and 20 specially trained volunteers.
It has been set up with $25,000 from the Department of Safety Services and is supported by the State Government's Women's Information Service based in Adelaide.
While it is largely aimed at supporting women and children, the space is available to victims who are men and friends and loved ones of those impacted by domestic violence.
People can seek assistance for housing and legal matters, family intervention, counselling, drug and alcohol services, or offer drop in spaces with phone and computer access.
9am-4pm Monday to Thursday, and 9am-3.30pm Fridays at Mount Barker Community Centre, 3 Dumas St, Mount Barker
Also Tuesday mornings at The Willows Children’s Centre, 1 Charles St, Mount Barker.
