Police were called to investigate an attempted home break-in at Murray Bridge around 1.30am and as they were doing so, clocked a ute nearby driving at speed.
Patrols followed the car as it headed to Mannum and stopped after it crashed into a sign at the intersection of Mannum and Randell Roads.
Police arrested the driver and apprehended the passenger after he allegedly tried to run away.
A 15-year-old and a 14-year-old from Murray Bridge were charged with 'illegal use'.
The driver was also charged with driving dangerously to escape a police pursuit, driving unlicensed, drink driving, carrying an offensive weapon and property damage. Both boys were refused bail before their afternoon court appearance.
