Uber claims that State Government rules are locking them out of operating in regional areas.

The major rideshare company has told the Courier that a current trial underway by the State Govenment is too cost and time prohibitive for drivers.

If a rideshare driver wanted to go further than Bridgewater on the South Eastern Freeway for a job, they would be required to have dual accreditation for regional and metro areas to do so.

New South Wales and Victoria have one state-wide system each.

The State Government has not outlined when their current trial will end.
