Local groups are being encouraged to apply for a share in $450,000 in Community Awareness Grants in a bid to increase organ donation registrations.
The funding will go towards initiatives that help educate the community about the importance and need for organ donations and to encourage more people to register on the Australian Organ Donor Register and make their wishes known with family members.
Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP is encouraging more community members to say yes to organ and tissue donation.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a massive impact on Australia’s national program to increase organ donation so that more people can receive a life-saving transplant,” said Mr Pasin.
“It is critical that we engage with community groups in 2021 to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation. One day it might be you, or a family member that needs a transplant."
Applications for the 2021 Community Awareness Grants close at 5:00pm AEDT on Sunday 7 March 2021.
