UPDATE: The search for a missing man in Lake Alexandrina has been suspended until Thursday 3 December, as weather conditions are expected to hinder search efforts.

EARLIER: The 31-year-old Brahma Lodge man was canoeing with a friend on Friday near Sheoak Road, Milang, and failed to return.

His friend from Elizabeth Vale was found alive around 2.45pm on Friday afternoon, floating on his back in the lake.

The 19-year-old was treated for hypothermia by ambulance crews on scene.

The pair reportedly fell off their inflatable canoe, and were not wearing life jackets.

Water Operations Unit officers coordinated a search and rescue effort which included local police, Sea Rescue Squadron boats and PolAir, which will recommence today.

The canoe has been found.

Police hold grave concerns for the welfare of the man.
