The South Australian Dairyfarmers’ Association (SADA) has welcomed the announcement of a new website to increase transparency for the dairy industry.
The Australian Dairy Products Federation (ADPF) has launched milkvalue.com.au to create better communication across the supply chain, with a particular focus on farm gate dairy milk pricing.
The Milk Value Portal initiative offers a single source of verified information on farmgate milk prices available to farmers in each region.
It delivers on Commitment 5 of the draft Australian Dairy Plan, which aims to “restore trust and transparency between farmers and processors to strengthen industry confidence”.
It has been enabled by the mandatory Dairy Code of Conduct which became effective on 1 January 2020, requiring processors to publish standard milk supply agreements, including minimum pricing, by 1 June each year.
The SADA is now urging farmers to visit the ADPF’s website to explore what is being offered.
