Months out from the next bushfire season, our emergency workers are being kept in the dark about the contents of a review into our latest horror bushfire season.
In January, former Federal Police Commissioner Mick Keelty was asked to conduct an enquiry and make recommendations to help prepare for the coming summer.
On June 26, the findings of the report were handed to Minister Corey Wingard by former Federal Police Commissioner Mick Keelty.
Mr Keelty has hinted at substantial changes across the emergency services sector, including changes to the structure of SAFECOM, the body set up to oversee the resourcing of the sector.
Shadow Minister for Emergency Services, Lee Odenwalder, is calling for the document to be swiftly released so volunteers and paid firefighters have time to absorb and adapt to any major operational changes to bushfire management.
"We are a few short months away from what could be another catastrophic fire season, and the Minister is still sitting on a report which would help our emergency workers to prepare," Shadow Minister Odenwalder said.
