A popular artisanal Adelaide Hills cheese company has announced grand plans to build a microbrewery and restaurant in Verdun.
Udder Delights in Hanhdorf has a plan to establish “Grunthal Brew and Udder Delights Cheese Cellar” at the site of the old Grumpy's Brewhaus which was destroyed by fire in 2016.
As well as the brewery and restaurant, the $1.5 million proposal includes a function space, beer tasting and cheese-making classes.
Udder Delights Cheese Cellar owner Sheree Sullivan has told Adelaide Now that the restaurant menu will have many cheese-heavy food options including pizza, which is quite fitting as her business partner Marc Cheney used to be a pizza maker and the pair used to dream of running a pizza shop together while they were studying at university.
“Everything we do has to be cheese and beer focused and has to be delicious, casual and fun,” Mrs Sullivan told Adelaide Now.
Plans for the development are under assessment at Adelaide Hills Council with the public welcome to provide feedback by Friday May 29.
