Similar to the Magpies in Gumeracha in the Country Division last week, the Magpies in Hahndorf saw their undefeated season slip away in the finals after a strong start from the Rams, who kicked the first four goals of the game before holding on for a 19-point win (15.7 97 to 11.2 78).

It means the Rams will play in their first grand final since being promoted to Division One, and first grand final since their 2017 triumph.

Gumeracha managed to arrest their slide in the Country Division meanwhile, by booking their place in the grand final with an 88-point win over Macclesfield (18.17 125 to 6.1 37) in Saturday’s prelim final.

They’ll now face Meadows in next week’s grand final, which will be played in Kersbrook.

Mypolonga have continued their improbable run in the River Murray finals, upsetting Imperial by 21 points (12.12 84 to 8.15 63) in their semi-final yesterday at Meningie.

Despite finishing fifth, the Tigers are just one game away from the grand final after they kicked four goals to one in the last quarter to pull away from the defending champions, who have now been knocked out in straight sets.

Mypolonga will face Southern Mallee in the prelim final next weekend, after Jervois kept their undefeated season going with a 10-point win over the Suns (9.16 70 to 8.12 60) on Saturday.

It marks the fourth straight year the Bluds have made the grand final.

Willunga have won another thriller in the Great Southern finals series, this time holding on to beat Victor Harbor by 4 points (14.13 97 to 14.9 93) in the semi final at Goolwa yesterday.

After beating Mount Compass by one point to advance last week, the Demons once again went down to the wire with their opponents, however they managed to keep the Roos at bay to get to the prelim stage for the fifth straight season.

Saturday’s qualifying final saw McLaren Districts book their place in the grand final, with a fourth quarter blitz guiding them to a 20 point win over Myponga/Sellicks (11.13 79 to 9.5 59).
