The finishing touches are being added to Murray Bridge’s second Studio Purpose housing project, leading to the support of more vulnerable young people experiencing homelessness.

Led by regional agency ac.care, and built by Habitat for Humanity, the project involves developing of a second block of apartments to double the capacity of the project after a successful first phase in 2021.

The SA Housing Authority has made a property available for phase two, and volunteers and construction suppliers are generously contributing to the conversion of the disused building.

Once complete, ac.care will work with partners to support eight young people aged 15-23 who receive an independent income across the two properties, which each feature four self-contained and fully-furnished apartments.

Accommodation will be managed by Believe Housing Australia, with tenants expected to engage in employment and education opportunities, receiving support from ac.care and Headspace.

Before the keys can be handed over to the new residents in March, community members and businesses are being asked to donate funds or good quality furniture and white goods to fill the four apartments.

Substantial funding has been provided from Impact100 SA, Morialta Trust, Harvey Foundation, The Rural City of Murray Bridge, and other private donors.
