Pizza Hut customers in Murray Bridge and Adelaide are waiting to see whether they have been caught up in a cyber attack targeting the food chain.

In an email to customers on Wednesday, Pizza Hut Australia’s chief executive, Phil Reed, said the company was first aware that there was “unauthorised third party” access to some of the company’s data in early September.

“We secured our systems, engaged forensic and cybersecurity specialists and initiated an ongoing investigation to help us understand what occurred, and identify the data that was impacted,” Phil Reed said.

Information has been breached, including names, delivery addresses, email address, and contact numbers. Some credit card details are among the info accessed but the company says it cannot used to make fraudulent payments.

Pizza Hut has more than 200 Australian stores including eight in Greater Adelaide.
